No I don't . . .

earthintruder Dec 06, 2007

I guess in the U.S. it must be easier to simply go vegetarian and keep on eating tons of wonderful things wherever you go . . .

For those of you who don't know it, my country is known for it's meat. Not only it's said that argentinian meat is the best of them all but also people have a religious way of thinking about it. Everybody gets toguether every sunday and have a huge bbq ( asado) with some small portion of salad ( tomatoes and lettuce).

So imagine what it is like to say that you don't, you don't eat meat. It's like saing that you don't like soccer ( futbol). That I don't. They look at you as if you didn't like the  government of turn. That I don't. Or if you didn't believe in god. That I certainly don't.

It's really hard for example to go to a grocery shop and try to find a cheese sandwich. Everything has to have jam. Or chicken, or of course something that comes from a cow ( that is not milk or cheese or even yoghurt). It has happened lot's of times to me ( in random several places) that whenever I asked :- Do you have something that doesn't have meat?

I recieve the following answer:- Ohh yes!!! This ones have chicken on it, and you have the fish ones as well.

Sometimes If I really want a sandwich I ask:- Do you have something that does not have any animal on it?

And then they understand  . . . sometimes.

The worst answer that I recieved was:- You vegetarians do eat fish, don't you?

No, no I don't.
